Installing Linux Mint 11 ‘Katya’

www.techiesmarts.com In this video we will install what some would argue to be one of the best Linux Distributions available, next to Ubuntu. And it is Linux Mint 11 ‘Katya’. Linux Mint has been around for a while and originally got it’s foothold out there by being a really easy to use, straightforward version of Linux based on Ubuntu itself. Now that Ubuntu is growing (at a rate faster than we’ve seen in the past) some people seem to feel that maybe Ubuntu is outgrowing it’s roots. Especially with the inclusion of Unity and Gnome Shell 3 being not so great with Ubuntu’s latest release. If this is you, rest assured. There is a Linux distribution out there for the Ubuntu refugees. I’d highly recommend giving Linux Mint a try. So follow along and let’s get it installed. Our next video will show how to quickly and easily install the Multimedia Codecs so we can enjoy our music, videos, and flash content with Mint. Installing Windows XP on a Netbook Via USB (Acer Aspire One)

If you have issues with this, try the alternative install (scroll down a bit): www.duncsweb.com Note: Installation may vary with laptop model and flash drive, you may encounter issues, this is just what I did. Here I talk about how I installed Windows XP on my Acer Aspire One A110 with just a USB Thumb Drive (Kingston DataTraveller 100 1GB). This is aimed at a how-to for anyone in a similar situation. This was done using the USB Multiboot Tool (Credit and Kudos to the authors). www.boot-land.net

Installing Debian on the N900. FilmsByKris.com WARNING!!! I say in the video that you can use Debain and since it’s in a chroot you don’t need to worry about screwing up your Maemo OS. This is mostly true. But, you can still access your Maemo OS partition so you can still screw files up. So, still be careful.
