Board Bringup: LCD and Display Interfaces Board bringup is one of the most under documented aspects of embedded development. This presentation will look at the various display technologies such as DisplayPort, DVI, LVDS, and other LCD interfacing methods with emphasis on how to bringup, debug, and validate them on new hardware. Using a case study, aspects such as interfacing timing, extended display identification data(EDID), and backlight controls will be discussed. Most embedded linux developers at some point in their career will be handed a piece of hardware that is untested. LCD bringup is one of the most challenging assignments for an embedded developer. This presentation intends to provide some core tools and methods for bringup of a new display interface. Speaker: Jon Larimer Many people think that Linux is immune to the type of Autorun attacks that have plagued Windows systems with malware over the years. However, there have been many advances in the usability of Linux as a desktop OS – including the addition of features that can allow Autorun attacks. In this presentation, I’ll explain how attackers can abuse these features to gain access to a live system by using a USB flash drive. I’ll also show how USB as an exploitation platform can allow for easy bypass of protection mechanisms like ASLR and how these attacks can provide a level of access that other physical attack methods do not. The talk will conclude with steps that Linux vendors and end-users can take to protect systems from this threat to head off a wave of Linux Autorun malware. Here I talk about and unbox the netbook I bought earlier, the Acer Aspire One A110 8GB. Previously I had an Asus EEEPC 701 4GB which I sold, and I must say this is better. The AAO will set you back £199. I was tempted to get the Acer Aspire One A150 but it was £30 more (but you get a 120GB HDD Drive) and i couldn’t afford it (without being broke) Video Rating: 4 / 5
