    Hi,
I have this netbook but not with Linux but with windows vista business edition, it works absolutely perfect! you are absolutely correct, the high resolution is amazing for such a tiny screen! the keyboard is tough and the trackpad is tough. I have used the asus netbook and it is very cheap and very bad quality. Thank you for recommending the HP 2133, I have subscribed.
    Thanks!

Great review, I bought myself a Dell Mini 9 with Ubuntu 8.04 preloaded, its nice; but, I bought my wife the MSI Wind, WOW, scrubbed off the XP install, put 8.10 on, its absolutely amazing.

    yer

  8. schmiditwo says:

Be careful when you want to buy such a thing and would like to use linux on it! They made some “submodels” with hardware linux just DOESN’T work with.

I will sell the 2133 to some windows user and buy me a asus eee 901 with real linux support.

  9. dmt195 says:

Nice one dude – just bought one and wanted reassurance! ;)

  10. GaelachWolf says:

Actually he said it comes with Suse, he just put Ubuntu on it. From what I understand, you can choose to have it shipped with either Windows or Suse.

  11. arnolddisco says:

    slow down lol

  12. zeeded says:

    @orgthingy

I don’t think it actually comes with Linux, he just put it on.

  13. talcomhosents says:

    is there wireless internet?

  14. orgthingy says:

wow… HP now has linux on laptops.. Dell as well and many many companies! great! (yea, BSD isnt ready for desktop yet)

  15. infango says:

  17. trunkboy says:

I was pretty excited about the X-Arcade. :D

  18. romanoskar says:

There are some bigger batteries available for the eee. I don’t know if there are any official ones. I got one off ebay for 30$ + shipping – that lasts about 6 hours (10400mAh) at normal usage, it elevates the machine quite a bit, but 6 hours is a striking argument. I think there are normal sized 6600mAh ones too.
I’ve never seen you that excited over a gadget :D .

Unfortunately the ndiswrapper stuff doesn’t work so well with kismet *caugh*. Great to see more budget mini notebooks though.

  19. trunkboy says:

I didn’t, but only because I read in forums, etc, that the “standard” firmware and broadcom drivers did NOT work with this version of the hardware.

I had no reason to believe the Ubuntu forum users were wrong, so I just went with NDISWrapper.

  20. DarkWolf80s says:

ah ok. Thank for the info trunkboy.

  21. PenguinCommunity says:

    ok

    =)

    I am glad about that

    =D

keep on the good work so… =P

  22. jeffsadowski says:

Just curious if you installed the firmware for the broadcom linux driver? most broadcom’s I remember having to install firmware in /lib/firmware

  23. trunkboy says:

This is one of the things I’ve really been pushing HP to change. Hopefully they’ll listen. :)

  24. trunkboy says:

Both Linux and Windows versions are available. You can’t order Linux on the top end models, however, which is one of the things I’m hoping my video(s) change.

i cant install skype on linux mandriva gnome! can someone give me an idea?

  27. Nikoo033 says:

@kmich22 Yes, you can install GNOME, then uninstall KDE. Don’t uninstall KDE first otherwise you will only have the terminal as an interface.

  28. kmich22 says:

guys i have mandriva kde and i have some problems! can i turn to mandriva gnome without format?

Yep I’m a tri-boot OS X, Vista, Ubuntu…but meh thinks I’m gonna try out some Mandriva 09 as well. Just installed it under VMWare fusion, and so far I think I might like it more than Ubuntu Jaunty 9.04.

  40. Zalariz says:

Very nice video!! im downloading the 2008 version!! BTW dose it comes like that with it’s fusion or you have to download the compiz-fusion??

  41. Storaiko says:

This is a mac user, Nikoo. Mac users aren’t the sharpest tools in the shed, or else they wouldn’t be paying twice as much for what they could get on a normal PC.
Also, mac users, before you attack me, I own a Mac, and I use my normal PC much more often.
    Lol, Win+Lin>Mac

  42. Nikoo033 says:

    You mean Windows/Mac/Linux…

  43. microsoftjc says:

I use all of them really they are all amazing and they all do have there own special quality So I use them all and sometimes at once. I LOVE PC MAC LINUX !!!

  44. SiathLinux says:

Mandriva will work with you newer flat panel monitor :D

  45. 420asebring says:

Yes, I am an American myself and I agree with you 100%. With most ignorant Americans anything that is not mainstream is a “cult” or a “terrorist”. Not all of us are like that and have better things to do than hate on invisible “cults” or “terrorists”.That poster was representing like you said the “narrow-minded” ones. Some people need to get their head out their asses. This is why the US is going to hell.

  46. Nikoo033 says:

True. That’s what I tend to shout all day long: choose the thing that fits your needs, and be happy to have the possibility to try something else if you’re ever interested in doing so.

  47. djHokko says:

This is not smart to argue about which system is better or worse. Windows, Linux, Mac OS… have all they’re own advantages! I personaly use Windows Vista and Mandriva on same machine with a VMware WorkStation so that I could change the system with one click of a mouse…

  48. mad89max says:

R0FL!!! i have the same lappy A6Km,now i have Windows XP x64 SP2, today iam gonna install some x64 linux! cheers! =)
